Your information
This privacy policy explains how Paws & Play (“we,” “us,” “our”) handles personal information when you visit paws-play.com and related pages, emails, or newsletters we operate (the “Site”).
For privacy questions or requests, write to hello@paws-play.com. We are the controller of personal information collected through the Site. Our terms & conditions cover use of the Site more generally.
The short version
- We collect what we need to run a website, answer you, and — if you opt in — send occasional notes.
- We do not sell your personal information.
- Retailers you visit through our links have their own privacy policies.
- You can ask us for access, correction, or deletion at the email above.
Information we may collect
Information you give us
If you email us, comment on a post, subscribe to a newsletter, or otherwise contact Paws & Play, we receive the details you include — typically your email address, name if you provide one, and the message itself. Do not send us sensitive health information about yourself or your pet unless it is necessary for the conversation; we are not your veterinarian.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, our hosting environment may record technical data when you visit: IP address, browser type, device type, referring URL, pages viewed, and timestamps. This server-log data is used to operate, secure, and diagnose the Site.
Cookies and similar technologies
The Site may set cookies or similar storage that is necessary for WordPress to function (for example, remembering a login or a comment preview). We may also use cookies that help us understand how the Site is used, if we enable them. You can control cookies in your browser. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the Site work.
We do not, in this policy, claim the use of any named analytics or advertising pixel that we have not confirmed is active. If we add a specific tool that collects personal information, we will update this page.
Why we use this information
We use personal information to:
- Provide, maintain, and secure the Site.
- Respond to questions, correction requests, and other messages.
- Publish and moderate comments you choose to leave.
- Send newsletter or update emails if you asked for them, and stop when you unsubscribe.
- Comply with law and enforce our Terms.
Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we typically rely on: our legitimate interests in running an editorial website; your consent, where we ask for it (for example, a newsletter signup or non-essential cookies); and legal obligation where we must keep or disclose information.
How long we keep it
Server logs are kept only as long as needed for security and operations, then deleted or aggregated. Emails and correspondence are kept as long as the conversation and any follow-up reasonably require. Comments remain until you ask us to remove them or we take them down under our standards. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only when it is needed to run the Site or when the law requires it:
- Hosting and WordPress infrastructure. The company that hosts paws-play.com and related technical providers process data on our behalf to deliver the Site.
- Email. If you write to us, that message is processed by our email provider.
- Newsletter tools. If we use a mailing service, that provider processes addresses for people who opted in.
- Retailers and affiliate networks. If you follow an affiliate or product link, you leave our Site. That destination — including Amazon and other shops named in our affiliate disclosure — may collect information under its own privacy policy. We do not receive your payment card details from those purchases.
- Legal requests. We may disclose information if we believe in good faith that we must do so to comply with law, protect visitors, or defend our rights.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties so they can market to you independently of the Site.
International transfers
Paws & Play may be read, hosted, or supported in more than one country. If your information is processed outside the country where you live, we take steps appropriate to the context — including the contractual and technical measures our providers offer — so that it still receives a level of protection consistent with this policy.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to personal information we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to object to or restrict certain processing, to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
To make a request, email hello@paws-play.com. We may need to confirm it is you before we act. You can unsubscribe from marketing or newsletter email using the link in those messages.
Children
The Site is written for adults who care for pets. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No website is perfectly secure. Please use a unique password if you have an account, and think twice before posting personal details in a public comment.
Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy as our practices, partners, or the law change. The date below is the latest revision. We encourage you to read this page from time to time. If a change is material, we will try to make that obvious here.
